For Anthony’s Fish Grotto (3) 2011 marks the 66th anniversary of this San Diego institution! Since 1946, when Mama Ghio and her sons and son-in-law opened their first Anthony’s Fish Grotto Restaurant, Anthony’s has been serving San Diegans delicious seafood for generations.
Today, under the guidance of the third generation of the Ghio and Mascari families, they are San Diego’s oldest, largest and favorite family-owned seafood restaurants. Also, Anthony’s Seafood Restauants have been voted best seafood restaurant 14 years in a row by the San Diego Union-Tribune reader’s poll. Plus, Anthony’s Fish Grotto Restaurants offer their customers their Anthony’s Fishette, which features quick-service patio dining overlooking the water, won the Anthony’s Fish Grotto Restaurants also received the San Diego Restaurant Association’s 2008 Gold Medallion Award for Best Quick Service Restaurant.
Best of all Anthony’s Fish Grotto Restaurants are so committed to freshness that they hand select and prepare all of the seafood they serve. A great beginning to any meal is the crab-stuffed portabello mushroom. Featured on all of the Anthony’s Fish Grotto Restaurants menus are a variety of excellent entrées and fresh catches, such as swordfish fillet with Mama’s Italian sauce, and fresh Pacific red snapper in spicy bread crumbs, topped with ranchero sauce and cheese. These meals include delicious, warm Italian country bread with a signature sun-dried tomato butter and your choice of tangy coleslaw, steamed garden vegetables, crab and macaroni salad and baked potato, french fries or citrus rice pilaf.
Not to be overlooked is the royal feast of Alaskan king crab legs and the broiled lobster with drawn butter. And if there is a steak lover in your crowd, Anthony’s Fish Grotto Restaurants also serve a tender teriyaki top sirloin steak. Also popular are the delicious salads from around the world.
Anthony’s Fish Grotto Restaurants are closed on major holidays. Anthony’s Fish Grotto Restaurant at the Embarcadero in downtown san Diego offers boat docking. So many boat owners sail or motor their boat here for a meal.
