Horse Racing
Del Mar is also the only town in the county with a thoroughbred horse racing track. This year from July 16 to September 3, except Tuesdays, the horses will run at the Del Mar Racetrack (5) (858-755-1141). They are located at the fairgrounds and offer offtrack wagering. A great place to begin or conclude your shopping and dining tour of Del Mar proper is at the impressive Del Mar Plaza (6) (858-792-1555) at the corner of Camino del Mar and 15th Street (see map). This shopping center has a great ocean view.
