Located in upscale Del Mar and impressive Coronado, Il Fornaio’s authentic Northern Italian Restaurants provide attentive service and inspiring ocean and bay views. Thus, dining at either restaurant is always a special dining experience.
As you might expect, the Il Fornaio Restaurants have receiving numerous “Best Italian Dining” awards including the 2007 Award of Distinction by the highly regarded Wine Enthusiast magazine.
At their Coronado location talented Chef Marco Nocco and his staff have created one of San Diego’s most romantic bay front dining experiences. The ambience and the flowing lines of the building’s architecture creates an almost authentic Mediterranean coastal setting against the back drop of a breathtaking downtown San Diego bay view at night. For outstanding authentic Italian cuisine and an incredible bay view this place is second to none.
A good reason to dine here often is that every month they feature a new inspiring dinner menu celebrating the wonderful diversity of food and wine from one of Italy’s 20 regions.
The menu features marvelous selections including great-tasting appetizers such as antipasto della casa. Also delicious is the Insalata di Bietole made with organic red and gold beets, wild arugula, toasted walnuts, asiago cheese and a tangy lemon-olive oil dressing. Main course selections are equally spectacular. And a demonstration of their diversity in food preparation is their wood-fired rotisserie chicken delights, delicious mouthwatering pasta and wonderful tasting pizzas.
Their Il Fornaio Panetteria Bakery even opens at 8 a.m. daily. Thus, you can enjoy freshly baked bread and pastries, espresso drinks and juices.
Lunch is served Mon.–Fri., from 11:30 a.m. ($7.95–$18.95); Saturday and Sunday Brunch is served from 10:30 a.m.–2 p.m. ($7.95–$18.95) and dinner is served till 10 p.m. They also have a very nice, yet casual, cocktail lounge. One added plus, that they have access to docking your boat at the restaurant next door, if you are so privileged to have a yacht. Otherwise, they have a very nice parking lot.
Their Del Mar location is no less spectacular. It affords a romantic ocean view from atop the impressive Del Mar Plaza in upscale Del Mar. Here attentive waiters provide excellent service and the same outstanding cuisine that has made both locations so popular.
So for a special occasion or any occasion a meal at Il Fornaio is always special.
