San Diego Zoo Safari Park | Escondido |
North County’s most visited attraction is the San Diego Zoo Safari Park (5) (see map). This 1,800-acre park is home to more than 3,500 animals, representing 260 species. In the fall, the park is open daily 9 a.m.–6 p.m. In winter, the park opens daily at 9 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m. In the summer, grounds are open 9 a.m.–9 p.m.
The admission price includes the Journey into Africa Tour and Conservation Carousel and is ($37) for adults and ($27) for children 3 –11. Children under 2 are admitted free. Parking is ($9). Prices are subject to change. Present their ad in the SAN DIEGAN book for $5 off a one-day pass.
Make Some Wild Friends on the Caravan Safari. For animal lovers, getting as close as possible to wild critters is always a treat. A Caravan Safari provides this wonderful opportunity, taking small groups directly into the Park’s large, open field exhibits in a flatbed safari truck for an amazingly close look at dozens of exotic animals. Meet giraffes or rhinos eye to eye as you offer them tasty treats, and watch as other glorious creatures go about their business, just as they might in the wild!
Riding on the back of a safari truck inside our animal enclosures provides you with the opportunity to photograph our exotic wildlife in a natural setting, at times just inches from your camera lens. Your very own expert wildlife guide is both informative and entertaining. After all—the focus is on fun!
