San Felipe

A favorite weekend seashore getaway is the small fishing village of San Felipe, which is on Mexico's Gulf of California. The fastest way to get there is to take I-8 east 120 miles to Mexicali. From there it's about 125 miles south on the well-maintained two lane Federal Hwy. 5.

Be sure to get Mexican auto insurance, because your U.S. policy is not valid in Mexico.

Call the San Felipe Tourism Office (01152-686-577-1600) or visit their website (www.visitsanfelipebc.com). Everyone is helpful and they speak English.
