Mira Mesa, Sorrento Mesa & Scripps Ranch are Inland Communities Near Marine Corps Air Station Miramar
Mira Mesa is bordered by Interstate 15 to the east, Interstate 805 to the west, the Los Peñasquitos Canyon to the north and Marine Corps Air Station Miramar (8), to the south. The west end of Mira Mesa is a business and technology park, often referred to as "Sorrento Mesa". This area is a major employment area for San Diego, at its center is the San Diego Tech Center.
Scripps Ranch is a coastal/inland residential community, just East of Mira Mesa. Miramar Reservoir is located within Scripps Ranch and offers recreational boating and fishing. A unique feature of Scripps Ranch is its landscaping, which includes many mature eucalyptus trees that are most apparent along Pomerado Road.

What to Do in Mira Mesa & Scripps Ranch |
Lake Miramar is a popular destination for bicycling, jogging, walking, rollerblading and picnicking. Miramar's concession stand is open on Saturdays and Sundays only, 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. They are renting boats on a first come basis on those two days only, no reservations. There is bait available - shiners, crawdads, nightcrawlers, meal worms and wax worms. Patrons can use credit cards for boat rentals and other purchases, but permits are cash only. Mira Mesa is also home to Mira Mesa Lanes, one of San Diego's last bowling alleys. Go here for a good evening with friends for a few games of bowling. Also popular are their late night bowling sessions, which include live DJ music and strobe lights. |
